This product is a decal sheet of the brand Studio27 in 1:24 scale for the BMW Z4 plastic kit from Fujimi. It is not a kit: you are not buying a plastic model, but the markings only. Without a kit bought to go with it you will build nothing.

Do not confuse the year. Two sheets of the same car exist, No. 79 of the Ecurie Ecosse team, one for the 2013 season (this one) and one for the 2014 season. They look almost identical: the same team, the same race number, the same type of car. They differ in the YEAR. The sponsor markings and the details of the livery change between seasons, so the decals are not freely interchangeable. The particular graphic differences between the years are not stated here; if you are building exactly a given car from a given race, go by the year in the name. This sheet is the one from 2013.

The real subject

The BMW Z4 GT3 is a customer racing car from BMW which reached private teams all over the world and started in dozens of different series. Ecurie Ecosse is a traditional Scottish team (Ecosse is Scotland in French) and with its car No. 79 it entered the ELMS, the European Le Mans Series, the European endurance series inspired by Le Mans, in 2013.

It is precisely because of this variety that decal sheets are bought: the box of a kit holds one livery, at most two, but a collector wants a particular car from a particular season. Other Z4 liveries exist as well, if you want to build several cars side by side.

How to work with the decals

• A decal belongs on gloss clear coat, never on a matte one. On a matte finish air gets under the film and the decal silvers, a milky patch that you will not save any more. This is the most common mistake of all.
• On the curved areas of the body use decal softener. Without it the film will not stick into the shape and will make folds.
• Once it is dry comes clear coat and polishing, as the decal hides under the coat and the model gains a wet look.
• The color of the body under the decal has to match. The sheet will not cover the whole car, the rest of the area is sprayed, so count on the paint in advance.
