A sheet of water-slide decals of the brand Studio27, 1:24 scale. Let us make it clear at once: this is not a kit. You are buying neither plastic parts nor a finished model, you are buying markings. The model of the car, that is the BMW Z4 kit from Fujimi, has to be owned by the customer. The reason such sheets exist at all is simple: the box of a kit offers one livery, at most two, yet the Z4 GT3 was a customer car and started with dozens of teams. Anyone who wants to build a particular car from a particular race reaches for a sheet.
ROAL Motorsport is an Italian team founded by Roberto Ravaglia, a legend tied to BMW and a multiple touring car champion, the world touring car champion of 1987. In the 2014 season the team entered the BMW Z4 GT3 in the Blancpain series and its car with number 43 was driven by the Italian crew of Stefano Comandini, Eugenio Amos and Stefano Colombo. This sheet captures its appearance from Monza, the Italian circuit nicknamed the Temple of Speed, the fastest course in Europe with long straights where GT3 cars run at the limit of their gearing and the brakes take a beating at a few extreme braking points.
The basic rule goes: a decal belongs on gloss clear coat. On a matte surface air gets under the film, the edge lights up silver (silvering) and hours of work are gone. The sponsor markings of the Z4 run across the side recesses and the curved fenders, so you cannot do without decal softener, as only that lets the film adhere into the shape without folds. Once everything is dry, the whole body is gone over with clear coat: the edge of the decal must then not be felt under a finger. The polishing that follows gives the surface a wet look. And watch the shade of the body, as the sheet does not cover the whole area and the rest is sprayed with paint that has to go with the decals.
Other Z4 GT3 liveries for Fujimi exist as well: the Brazilian team of 2014, Team Russia from Silverstone (ELMS) and the car with number 888 from Silverstone. The names are similar to each other, and this sheet is the Italian ROAL and the race at Monza.
The package contains decals only. The kit, paints, gloss clear coat, softener and glue are not part of the delivery.
