This package is not a kit. It is a sheet of water-transferred decals, that is markings, in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Studio27, intended for the Ford Fiesta kit from the Belgian brand Belkits. You have to own the model of the car, as the sheet supplies only the markings with which you will dress the Fiesta in the colors of the Lotos team from the Acropolis Rally 2014.
Rallying is a different world from the circuit. It is run on closed public roads, on gravel and asphalt in one day, in dust and in rain, by day and by night. Next to the driver sits a co-driver who reads the pace notes out loud: the driver enters a corner he cannot yet see at full speed and relies on the voice beside him. The Acropolis is the hardest school of this environment: baking Greek rocks, coarse gravel, dust and heat, which are famous for destroying dampers, tires and engines. Reaching the finish is a result in itself here. In 2014 the Acropolis was part of the European championship (ERC) and the crew of Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Jaroslaw Baran in the Lotos colors finished third here.
Decals belong exclusively on gloss clear coat. On a matte surface air is caught under the film and the decal starts to silver, which is the most common mistake you will see on marked bodies. On curved areas (fenders, hood, spoiler) use decal softener, so that the film adheres into every shape. Once it is dry comes clear coat over the decals, and only then weathering. The order is essential. A rally car from Greece is not meant to be clean and polished: dust in the edges, caked mud behind the fenders and stone chipping on the sills belong on it. Dust pigments and washes will do more good here than another layer of gloss.
The package contains decals only. The kit, paints, clear coat, softener and weathering products are not included, and other sheets for the Ford Fiesta exist as well.
