The real subject

The Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 is the racing version of the sports coupe, built to the rules of the GT3 category. It was created for endurance races, where a car does not run one lap on the edge but tens of hours in the alternating hands of several drivers. The twenty-four-hour race at the Nürburgring is one of such events: a long course, changing weather and dense traffic of cars of various performance classes. That is exactly why the markings on these cars tend to be so bold, so that the pit crew and the spectators recognize the car even in the rain and in the dark.

What the set contains

A decal sheet in 1:24 scale for one particular form of the car, designated as the Premio team for the race at the Nürburgring in 2015. The set is prepared for Fujimi kits; when using it on a model from another maker, count on the dimensions and shapes of the parts differing and on some of the items possibly not fitting.

How to apply the decals

Decals belong only on a finished coat, best of all on a smooth glossy surface. Matte or rough clear coat under the decal stays visible as a silvery veil. Cut the item out together with a margin of backing paper, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it can be moved to the side. Transfer it to the model, settle it into position and draw the excess water off with a soft cloth. On a shaped area a decal softener helps. Once it is perfectly dry, go over the whole part with a layer of clear coat, which sinks the edges of the decals into the surface.
