A Studio27 1:24 Dress Up decal sheet, the Porsche 918 Spyder in the historic Salzburg livery for Revell kits. This is not a kit: the decals transform an already built model, and the car itself is not in the package.
Responsibility details are not available.
So that there is no mistake right at the start: you are buying a decal sheet, not a model of the car. No plastic parts, no body, just a sheet of water-slide markings which is applied to a finished, sprayed model. You have to own the Porsche 918 Spyder kit (made by Revell). The designation Dress Up at Studio27 means a sheet that changes the coat of a model: it is not a reconstruction of a particular racing entry, but a complete decorative livery, here the one that Porsche itself offered for the 918 Spyder as customer bespoke equipment. The sheet also offers variants of race numbers, so you choose how aggressively you want to dress the model. That is exactly the charm of such sheets in general: a kit in the box usually gives one or two color schemes, but a collector wants his particular car, and Studio27 is a Japanese brand whose sheets are renowned for the quality of the printing and the fineness of the film.
The Porsche 918 Spyder (built from 2013 to 2015) is a hybrid hypercar, a naturally aspirated V8 supplemented by two electric motors, and one of the big three hybrid supercars of its time. Customers of the top specification could order the car with markings referring to historic Porsche racing liveries, among them the Salzburg design. That one is among the most precious the brand has: the white and red colors of the Austrian Porsche Salzburg stable were carried by the Porsche 917 which in 1970 fought out the historically first overall Porsche victory at Le Mans. On a modern hybrid hypercar it is a nice connection: a legend from 1970 transferred to a car which forty years later redefined what fast means all over again.
The base must be glossy. On matte clear coat air gets under the film and a silver rim forms around the decal (silvering), which is the single most common mistake and can only be put right by coating over it. So spray a glossy base, let it cure and only then apply them.
Salzburg is a large-area livery, not a couple of stickers, as the stripes run across the hood, the fenders and the sides of the 918, that is across nothing but curves. Decal softener is practically a necessity here: without it the film will not settle over the radii and will make folds. Once it is perfectly dry, coat it with clear coat, so that the edges of the markings cannot be felt as a step, and finally polish it, as a 918 Spyder in a wet gloss looks completely different from one in a matte finish.
The package contains decals only. The model, paints, clear coat and softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
