Water-slide decals from Studio27 in 1:24 scale which turn a model of the BMW 2002 into a rally special with race number 30 from the Rallye Monte Carlo 1975. Careful: this is not a kit, as in the envelope there is a sheet with markings and no plastic. You have to own the BMW 2002 model from Hasegawa, as the sheet is cut exactly for it.
The BMW 2002 is the car with which BMW became the BMW we know today in the 1970s: a small, light and angular sedan with a sporting engine which could trouble far more expensive cars. The tii version with fuel injection turned it into a usable competition machine, and the 2002 is a cult classic to this day, as well as a direct predecessor of the later racing legend, the M3. The Rallye Monte Carlo is the most famous rally in the world. It is run in January in the mountains above Monaco and its reputation rests on the weather: on a single corner dry asphalt, wet, ice and snow take turns. The choice of tires is a gamble and the result breaks on one bad guess.
The technique first: markings belong on gloss clear coat. On a matte one air is trapped under the film and the edges turn silver, which is the most common reason why a finished model looks shoddy. On the curves of the fenders and on the grille use decal softener, so that the markings are drawn into the shape. And now the essential part: a rally car is not meant to be clean. Once you have sealed the markings with clear coat, only then does the turn come for dusting and mudding: dust on the sides, mud in the wheel arches, smears from the wipers, salt and slush on the sills. The order is essential: weathering over unprotected decals will be wiped off with every correction. Bear in mind as well that the sheet does not cover the whole body, as you spray the basic shade yourself and it has to match the decals.
The package contains decals only. The model of the car, paints, gloss and clear coat, softener, pigments and washes are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
