Studio27 — Toyota Celica LB Turbo of Group 5, DRM 1978, a 1:20 decal sheet for the Tamiya model is a dress up set of markings for a racing road monster. It is not a kit — the car model is bought separately.

This product is a separate decal sheet from Studio27 in 1:20 scale, made for the Tamiya Toyota Celica LB Turbo Gr.5 plastic kit. It is NOT a kit — there are no plastic parts in the envelope, only markings. The basic model has to be obtained separately. Studio27 places the sheet in the Dress Up series, that is additional markings, sponsor logos, tire brands and small lettering. Do not look for a carbon fiber imitation in it — the maker sells that as a separate carbon set.
Group 5, nicknamed the silhouette class or also the road monsters, was the wildest circuit racing category of the second half of the seventies. The rules allowed practically anything: huge widened fenders, massive spoilers, wings and turbocharged engines. Of the production car essentially only the silhouette remained — the outline of the roof and the doors. The home of Group 5 was the DRM, the German touring car championship, where the top division was ruled by the Porsche 935 and faced by BMW. Into this German stronghold Toyota drove as a Japanese intruder: the Celica Liftback Turbo was built in Germany, had a light fiberglass body and a turbocharged engine, and started in the DRM in 1977 and 1978. Reliability troubled it, but nobody denied it charisma.
Apply the decals only onto a gloss clear coat; on a matte surface the edges silver, and on large sponsor areas that is immediately visible. The body of a Group 5 car is full of edges, widened arches and transitions, so a decal softener comes in handy — it helps the marking flow around the edge of a fender and the edge of a spoiler. Work from the large areas and push the excess water out with a cotton swab. Once dry comes the clear varnish and polishing: a circuit car should look clean and gleaming, weathering does not belong here.
This is a set of decals, not a kit. The model, the paints, the glue, the decal softener and the varnishes are not included in the package.
