The real subject

The Ferrari FXX is not a road car. It came about as a circuit offshoot of the Enzo for selected customers who were not allowed to take it onto public roads: it was driven on closed circuits within a program run by the manufacturer itself, and the findings from those runs went back to the engineers. The appearance of the car matches that. Behind the crew's backs works a V12, the body carries a prominent wing and spoiler edges, the rubber consists of racing tires, and everything of no use on a circuit has disappeared from the equipment.

What the set contains

Photo-etched parts, that is elements etched out of thin metal sheet, in 1:24 scale. Photo-etched sheet can do what injection-molded plastic cannot: grilles you can see through, loops, buckles, thin trim and fittings of real thickness. The set is prepared for Tamiya kits, so the dimensions of the parts match those.

Building tips

Cut the photo-etched parts out on a hard surface with a new blade, not with scissors, otherwise they will bend. Make the bends over a ruler or in an etch bender, so that the edge is straight along its whole length. Photo-etched parts are not glued with modeling cement for plastic but with cyanoacrylate glue, and before gluing as well as before painting they have to be degreased, because smooth metal will otherwise not hold a coat. First carefully cut away the element of the kit that is to be replaced by the photo-etched part and sand the area smooth. The manufacturer gives the placement of the individual parts in the instructions for the set.

For modelers with experience of fine work who build sports cars and want to get a model beyond the level of a boxed build. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
