BMW M3 Bastos Tour de Corse 1989 – a conversion set in 1:24 (Studio27)

A conversion set, a trans kit, from the Japanese brand Studio27 in 1:24 scale for advanced modelers. It holds resin parts, white metal and decals with which a plastic model of the BMW M3 E30 is converted into the competition special in Bastos colors from the Tour de Corse of 1989. It is not a complete kit – it requires a matching basic M3 model.

The real subject

At the end of the 1980s the Group A BMW M3 E30 dominated asphalt events. The car in the dark livery of the sponsor Bastos is one of the striking sights of the Tour de Corse of 1989. The conversion makes it possible to capture the competition specification of this particular car with the correct lettering and markings.

Building and painting tips

• Wash the resin parts free of mold release residue in warm water with detergent.
• Cut off the casting blocks and sand with respiratory protection.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue.
• Apply primer and finish the body with varnish and the enclosed decals.
