Porsche 935 K1 Silverstone 1976 – a conversion set in 1:24 (Studio27)

A conversion set, a trans kit, from the Japanese brand Studio27 in 1:24 scale for advanced modelers. It holds resin body parts, photo-etched elements, white metal and decals with which a plastic model of the Porsche is converted into the 935 K1 version of the Kremer Racing team from the 6 Hours of Silverstone of 1976. It is not a complete kit – the Tamiya kit 24328 or 24334 is necessary.

The real subject

The Porsche 935 was a Group 5 racing special derived from the 911, famous for its turbocharged flat six and its aggressive aerodynamics. The K1 version of the Cologne team Kremer was among the fastest private entries of the mid-1970s and scored in endurance races such as the 6 Hours of Silverstone of 1976.

Building and painting tips

• Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent in warm water with detergent.
• Cut off the casting blocks and sand the areas with respiratory protection.
• Glue both the resin and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue.
• Apply primer and finish the body with a gloss clear coat and the decals.
