The package holds four sheets of sandpaper on a waterproof backing. 400 grit belongs to the coarser half of the modeling range: it suits leveling filled seams, knocking down the burrs left after a part is cut from the sprue and leveling mold seams. It is not a paper for the final shine but the step that prepares an area so that finer grits can be set to work on it.
Soak the sheet and sand under a weak stream of water or in a bowl. The water washes the sanded dust away, which would otherwise stick between the grains and the paper would stop cutting. Once rinsed, the area also shows straight away whether it is smooth, because a wet surface reveals the remaining marks. For flat areas it is better to stretch the paper over a hard sanding block, while on curves a soft backing of sponge is enough. Do not inhale the sanding dust from plastic and rinse it away after the work.
For everyone who builds plastic models and wants the transitions between parts to be invisible. A coarser grit is a basic part of a set that should go on through finer steps all the way to polishing. Skipping it and starting straight with a fine paper does not pay off: a fine grit removes practically no material, so the seam will still show even after long sanding.
The goods hold the sandpaper only. A sanding block and a model are not part of the package.
