Note: this is not an aircraft kit but a resin detail set from the maker Aires. It holds the realistically rendered exhaust nozzle (the rear nozzle of the jet engine) of the Japanese Mitsubishi F-2A/F-2B fighter, and in the closed execution: the nozzle is narrowed, as it looks at idle with reduced thrust. The set is designed as a replacement for the corresponding part in the plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the maker Fine Molds. You have to own the base F-2 kit.
The exhaust nozzle is the rear mouth of a jet engine, through which the exhaust gases leave; its petals change the diameter according to the regime of the engine. The closed position corresponds to reduced thrust, when the mouth of the nozzle is drawn in; that is how the aircraft looks when it stands on the ground. The F-2 is a single-engine fighter derived from the American F-16, developed by Mitsubishi of Japan. The resin part offers fine internal detail of the petals and the vanes of a kind that injection-molded plastic cannot manage in this scale, and as a prominent visual feature from behind it gives the model believability.
Carefully separate the parts from the casting block with a fine saw or a knife and clean up the surface. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), as classic cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Before painting, wash any mold release agent off the part. Paint it in metallic shades: the nozzle has the character of sintered, heat-colored metal (dark steel, burnt blue-violet and golden tones). In a small scale an airbrush and sensitive emphasis on the individual petals help.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a complete model. The base F-2 kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
