Grumman TBM-1 Avenger — exhaust in 1:72 scale from the resin detail maker Quickboost. An accessory for the Hasegawa plastic kit, it is not a model in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set from the Czech manufacturer Quickboost (the Aires brand) in 1:72 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory — an accurately cast replacement exhaust for the Grumman TBM-1 Avenger carrier torpedo bomber. The set is meant to improve the plastic kit from Hasegawa, which you have to have separately. The crisply cast resin part replaces the exhaust from the base kit and raises the fidelity of the power plant.
The Grumman TBM-1 Avenger was an American carrier torpedo bomber of the Second World War (the production version of the Avenger built under license by General Motors, hence the TBM designation as against the original Grumman TBF). It was a sturdy single-engine machine with a roomy fuselage, a defensive gun turret and a bomb bay for a torpedo or bombs. It was deployed above all in the Pacific from the decks of American aircraft carriers against Japanese ships and in attacks on ground targets.
First separate the part carefully from the casting block with a saw or a cutter and sand the cut face down; when sanding resin, protect your airways (a respirator, sanding wet). Before gluing, wash the part in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release agent is removed. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The exhaust comes out well painted in metallic and rusty shades with a final emphasis of the scale and the burnt areas with pigments or a wash.
This is a resin accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
