Flexible foam masks intended to close off the wheel bays of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 fighter in 1:48 scale. The soft foam is pressed into the openings of the landing gear bays, where it holds by its own springiness and reliably stops the paint from running inside or onto the surrounding detail. The solution saves time compared with laboriously filling the bays with paper or masking tape, and the masks can be washed and used again. The set is shaped for the particular Dora kit in this scale.

Use

• Insert the foam segments into the wheel bays before spraying the underside.
• The foam follows the shape of the opening and protects the bays and the adjoining surfaces.
• After spraying, take the masks out and wash them if needed for further use.
• It works with an airbrush and with a spray can.

The real subject

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9, nicknamed Dora, was the final development branch of the famous Fw 190 fighter. Unlike the radial-engined versions it received the liquid-cooled inverted V12 Junkers Jumo 213, which lengthened the nose and the engine section. Entering service in the closing stage of the Second World War, it brought markedly better performance at higher altitudes.
