Gauge Neutral Leaf foliage autumnal, yellow, 28 x 14 cm

HEKI leaf mat, autumnal yellow, 28 by 14 cm

A foliage mat from the German maker HEKI measuring twenty-eight by fourteen centimeters. The covering in the shape of small leaves holds on a carrier net and can be stretched out into an irregular texture. Yellow is the most striking of the autumn tones and on a diorama it works as an accent of light. That is precisely why it is not used on a whole growth but on selected trees where the eye is to linger.

Use

• the crowns of birches, poplars and other trees that turn yellow
• a focus of color in an otherwise subdued autumn vignette
• avenues and lines of trees along roads
• adding the yellow component to a varied autumn crown

How to work with the mat

Tear a piece off, stretch it out into irregular gaps and lay it onto the framework. Fix it with sparing drops of super glue or white glue. A real autumn tree does not have a single color, so it proves itself to add a little brown or green foliage to the yellow, or to sprinkle granulate in another shade onto the crown while the glue is still damp. Then sprinkle the same color on the ground under the crown so that it is clear where the leaves are falling from.

Who the mat is for

For builders of autumn layouts and dioramas and for modelers who want a clear focus of color in a vignette. Anyone building an autumn avenue will appreciate that the mat can be divided into small pieces and the color thus dosed tree by tree. It is a modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its landscaping goods as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
