HEKI leaf granulate, autumnal yellow

Loose foliage from the German maker HEKI in a yellow autumn shade. Yellow is the most striking of the autumn tones and on a diorama it works as an accent of light that draws the eye. That is precisely why it is not sprinkled over a whole growth but onto selected trees and areas; otherwise the vignette slips toward the impression of colored paper instead of countryside.

Use

• the crowns of birches, poplars and other trees that turn yellow
• fallen leaves on the ground under crowns
• livening up a mainly green or brown vignette with color
• a transitional layer between the green and the brown part of autumn

How to work with the foliage

Apply flock adhesive or diluted white glue to the trees and sprinkle the material from above over a dish placed underneath. For fallen leaves proceed the other way round: apply the glue to the ground around the trunk in an irregular patch and sprinkle the granulate so that it thins out toward the edges. The saturation can be softened by mixing a little brown or green into the yellow, as a real autumn tree never has a single color.

For builders of autumn dioramas and layouts and for modelers who want an accent of color in a green vignette. Yellow also suits avenues along roads, where a line of trees of one kind changes color all at once and a band of yellow crowns leads the eye into the depth of a scene. It therefore proves itself to consider a larger amount than would go onto a single tree. It is a loose material; do not inhale it and keep it out of the reach of children. The manufacturer marks its landscaping goods as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
