About product

HEKI Ballast Glue, 250 ml

A glue from the German maker HEKI in a two-hundred-and-fifty-milliliter container, intended for consolidating a ballast bed and crushed-stone paths made from natural aggregate. The procedure is simple: the ballast is poured over the laid track, brushed out between the ties and into the slope of the bed, and then flooded with the glue and left to dry. The manufacturer points out that the product is not suitable for a cork bed.

Use

  • consolidating a ballast bed made from natural aggregate
  • gravel and crushed-stone paths on a diorama
  • fixing scatter materials over larger areas
  • consolidating coarser loose materials in a landscape
  • adjusting and topping up ballast on a finished layout
  • consolidating scatter on slopes where the material would slide

How to work with the glue

First brush the ballast out dry into its final form, because once flooded it cannot be moved. Apply the glue slowly and let it soak in, working in sections on larger areas. Drying takes longer than it seems, so it is better to leave the layout alone overnight. A practical advantage of this glue is that the bond stays water-soluble: wetting it releases the ballast and the track can be reused when the layout is rebuilt.

Who the glue is for

For layout builders who ballast their track and for modelers consolidating loose materials on a diorama. Keep the product out of the reach of children and avoid contact with the eyes. Remove dried residue with water before it hardens.
