A grass mat from the German maker HEKI measuring forty-five by seventeen centimeters, toned for peaty and waterlogged ground. The fibers are applied to a practically invisible backing and the mat tears into irregular pieces. Peat bog growth differs from an ordinary meadow in both color and behavior: it is darker, shading into brown, and grows in shaggy hummocks, because the soil beneath it is acidic and poor.
Apply spray adhesive to a new base and press the mat down. On an area that is already grassed you do not need glue. With a peat bog, do not cover the area continuously: leave dark spots of water, bare peat and islands of moss between the growth. It is exactly this irregularity and the alternation of wet and dry patches that sets a wetland apart from an ordinary meadow better than color alone.
