Gauge Neutral Textured grass forest floor, 19 x 30 cm

HEKI Textured Grass Mat, Forest Floor, 19x30 cm

A grass mat from the German maker HEKI measuring nineteen by thirty centimeters in the muted tone of a forest floor. The growth is textured, that is, it alternates denser clumps with thinned-out patches. In a forest scene that is very useful, because a forest floor is never continuously overgrown: grass grows on it only where light gets through between the crowns, and an uneven mat brings that rhythm with it from the start.

Use

• the forest floor and areas between trunks
• forest edges, firebreaks and forest tracks
• shaded sides of embankments and cuttings
• the transition between a green meadow and bare forest soil
• adding more varied sections to a uniform mat
• varied greenery around stumps and fallen trunks

How to work with the mat

Apply spray adhesive to a new base and press the mat down; on an area already grassed the fibers hold even without glue. Even a textured mat should not be laid continuously on a forest floor: leave bare soil, leaf granulate and twigs between the pieces. Place the denser sections where a gap opens in the canopy and the thinned-out patches under the densest trees. Tear the pieces away from prominent clumps.

Who the mat is for

For builders of forest layouts and dioramas and for modelers who are bothered by the uniformity of ordinary grass mats. This is modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its scenery products as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
