Grass Mat Forest Ground (100 x 200 cm)

HEKI grass mat, forest floor, 100 x 200 cm

This is not a model or a kit but a finished surface for building terrain. The coloring matches the ground under trees: brown and ocher tones of leaf litter and pine needles are filled out by only sparse green tufts of undergrowth. The backing is a firm special paper on which upright fibers stand in a dense growth. The middle format of 100 x 200 cm gives 2 m² according to the manufacturer, so it is enough for a decent stretch of forest as well as for several dioramas. The mat is not tied to a single scale; the manufacturer lists it for the H0, TT, N and Z sizes.

Use

• forest floor, cut lines, clearings and forest tracks on layouts and dioramas
• shaded areas under bridges, behind buildings and on north-facing slopes
• after cutting it is glued on a flat board like wallpaper with wallpaper, spray or general-purpose adhesive
• for broken terrain crumple the mat, unfold it and only then glue it down
• roads and streams are scraped out with a spatula after damping the surface and repainted with acrylic once dry
• tufts of vegetation, crumbs of cork bark and a dark scatter fill out the places at the foot of trees

Who it is for

For modelers who are building a forest and want the ground under it finished in a single evening, and for builders of military dioramas, where forest growth often appears as the background of a scene. The middle format is a sensible middle ground: 2 m² covers a decent stretch of forest and leaves no large remnant.

Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
