HEKI grass mat, autumn colors, 100 x 300 cm

This is not a model or a kit but a finished grass surface. The backing is a firm special paper on which upright fibers stand and form a dense growth. The coloring mixes dried-out yellow, ocher and remaining green, so the surface looks like late autumn after the harvest. The 100 x 300 cm format gives 3 m² according to the manufacturer, which is a supply for a whole layout or for several dioramas. The mat is not tied to a single scale; the manufacturer lists it for the H0, TT, N and Z sizes.

Use

• autumn scenery, stubble, field boundary strips, embankments and forest edges
• on a flat board it is cut and then glued like wallpaper, and wallpaper, spray or general-purpose adhesive is enough
• hills and slopes come about by reshaping it over crumpled paper balls or over a framework of strips and cardboard
• for a broken surface crumple the mat, unfold it again and only then glue it down
• cut a road, a stream or a track bed like this: damp the surface with water, scrape the fibers off with a spatula after a minute and repaint with acrylic once dry

Who it is for

For modelers who are building a large autumn area and do not want to flock it by hand. It suits a model railway as well as dioramas with vehicles and aircraft. Small things move the result on: added flower flock, crumbs of cork bark and a darker shade in the places where damp collects.
