A set of two tunnel portals for a single-track line in H0 gauge, that is in 1:87 scale, from the German manufacturer HEKI. The portals are plastic and there are two pieces in the package. A portal is the face of a tunnel: it closes the opening in the terrain, gives the line a true ending and hides the bare framework of the layout behind it. Neither the whole tunnel nor its inner lining is in the package.
First run the tallest and longest car that will travel the line through the opening dry, and only then glue the portal with cement for plastic or with PVA glue. A single-track portal is easier to seat than a double-track one, but even here it holds that you go by the center line of the track. Stone comes alive with a dark wash run into the joints and a light drybrush on the edges, and a faint soot smudge above the arch then works well.
It suits builders of H0 layouts with a single-track line and diorama builders who need a small landscape structure quickly and without modeling stone. A pair of portals is enough for one tunnel, so both entries look the same.
The portals are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
