HEKI cork ballast, light, 25 g

This is not a model or a kit but a loose material for building terrain. Crushed cork replaces stone ballast where weight would be a problem: cork is much lighter, it gives, and under the track it damps the noise of the running gear that would otherwise carry into the baseboard. The light shade matches a freshly laid bed that has not yet gathered dust. The manufacturer supplies a bag weighing 25 g, and the material is not tied to a single scale, so it can be used as a bed in the smaller sizes and as fine rubble in the larger ones.

Use

• track beds, industrial sidings, service tracks and the areas between the rails
• fine rubble under rock faces, road shoulders and dusty edges of surfaces
• pour it, spread it with a brush into the shape of a bed with sloping shoulders and then mist the surface lightly with water
• it is fixed with diluted glue dripped onto the dampened surface, so that the grains do not shift
• the shade can be moved with a thin acrylic glaze or a dark wash into the joints

Who it is for

For layout builders who watch weight and noise, and for diorama modelers who need light rubble for overhanging areas. Light cork pays off where the bed is to look new or where dirtying it with a wash later is reckoned with. Besides the light variant there is a dark one as well, and the two can be mixed.

Do not inhale the loose material and do not use compressed air to blow it about; work over a mat and close the bag after use. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
