HEKI 33104 - black stone scatter, 0.1 to 0.6 mm, 200 g

A scatter of crushed natural stone colored black. A grain size of 0.1 to 0.6 mm is the finest grade in the line, and the pack holds 200 g. The black shade stands in for clinker, cinder, ash and dark igneous rock, that is, materials that are always plentiful around a railroad and industry and that cannot be imitated with gray ballast. The maker HEKI Kittler is based in Rastatt, Germany, and manufactures in Germany.

Where the black shade suits

In a depot and by a turntable, on the ground around coal stores and boiler houses, on cinder lanes and the trodden yards of workshops, on scree of dark rock and on ash along the track in the steam era. It also serves well as a dark scatter in hollows, giving an area depth.

Use

• Pour it on dry and flood it with thinned PVA glue and a drop of dish soap from a dropper, or sift it straight into a layer of glue.
• Use black sparingly and rather in transitions; a continuous black area swallows all the detail.
• Mix it with gray or earthy granulate, and the result then looks like a grimy rather than a painted surface.
• Once dry, bring out the edges with a dry brush in a lighter tone so that the grains do not merge.
• Pour the leftover material back into the bag once dry.

For builders of layouts and dioramas with an industrial or railroad setting and for modelers of vehicles who need a dark fine material for burnt ground, cinder or volcanic soil.

This is a fine stone granulate. Do not breathe in the dust while scattering and work away from drafts. The item is not suitable for children under 15. Glue is not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
