Heki Dur Colour paint in a granite shade, made for painting rock faces, stone walls and other rocky surfaces of a model landscape.
Responsibility details are not available.
Granite is a coarse-grained igneous rock in cool gray tones that breaks into angular blocks rather than thin layers. Its surface is made up of pale and dark grains, so from a distance it looks uniformly gray and close up uneven. The paint delivers this base tone ready-made and saves mixing gray, where it is easy to end up with a shade that is too dark or too blue.
It comes into its own on rock massifs, cuttings, quarries, stone walls, bridge piers and stony slopes. It also serves well wherever the shade of rock and masonry has to be unified, so that the two surfaces follow on from each other instead of looking like two different pieces of landscape.
First remove the dust from the surface and let it dry. Apply the paint in thin coats, start with an overall base tone and let it dry. Then lay on a darker glaze that runs into the cracks and joints and creates shadow. Finally pass a dry brush lightly over the edges so that the grainy structure of the stone stands out. With granite it pays to add small variations of shade in a few places to imitate individual grains and lichen. Thinning and drying times are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The paint will serve diorama and layout builders who work on rocky terrain and need a shade they can repeat a month later when the scene is extended.
The paint alone is supplied. A brush, thinner and the parts to be painted are not included, unless stated otherwise.
