Acrylic Paint Blue

What it is

An acrylic paint from Heki in a blue shade, one shade in a bottle. The volume of the package and the recommended thinner are stated by the manufacturer; the paint is applied with a brush and can be sprayed once thinned.

Where blue is used

In a scene blue is the color of machines and of water. It finds use on trucks, on tractors and construction machinery, on the gates and doors of farm buildings, on signals and on the small accessories meant to bring some color into the scene. The second large field is the water surface: the blue tone in the base of a stretch of water decides whether a pond reads as clear water or as a murky pool. In the sky and in distant planes blue is then used to make the farther layers of landscape lighten slightly and recede into the background.

How to work with the paint

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, otherwise the settled pigment stays at the bottom.
• Apply thin coats and let each one dry, one heavy coat floods the detail of the surface.
• Add blue into mixtures drop by drop, it tints very strongly and easily overpowers the other shades.
• A lighter tone comes from adding white, a deeper and less loud one from adding a drop of brown.
• Wash the brush right after work, dried acrylic will not come out of the bristles.
• Close the bottle carefully, an open container dries the paint out.
