Shooting Stars around the world, 1:48 is a Tiger Head Models decal sheet devoted to the Lockheed Shooting Stars with various operators. The package contains markings, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:48 scale aimed at the aircraft of the Shooting Star range as they served with operators in various parts of the world. The set is supplementary markings for a kit — the model of the airplane and paints are not in the package. We recommend checking the exact variant the sheet is shaped for before buying, because the Shooting Star designation was carried by machines in several forms.
The Shooting Star belongs to the first generation of American jet aircraft. It came about at the close of the Second World War, and its straight, unswept wing shape and smooth slim fuselage line look unmistakable in a display case today. The type spread far beyond the borders of the United States and served for many years in many countries, whether as a fighter, a trainer or a transition machine for pilots converting from piston aircraft. It was precisely the wide export that brought a great number of color schemes: from bare metal with striking stripes to camouflaged machines.
The Shooting Star is often built in bare metal, and that is the most demanding surface for decals. Let the metallic finish cure thoroughly, go over it with a gloss clear coat and only then get to work, otherwise the surface will be damaged under the pressure of a finger. The tip tanks on the wingtips have a sharp curve — put a decal on them in parts and help yourself with decal softener. Check against the light whether bubbles have been left, and pierce any with a scalpel. When you have finished, choose the sealing clear coat according to the surface; on metal, satin rather than anything else, so as not to kill the sheen.
The package contains decals only. The kit and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
