The Sukhoi Su-2 (1941 to 1942) decal sheet in 1:48 scale from the Tiger Head Models brand offers markings of the Soviet light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft from the first two years of the war on the Eastern Front. It is an accessory to a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains printed decals in 1:48 scale for finishing a model of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-2 aircraft in markings matching the period of 1941 to 1942. There are no plastic or resin parts in the package — the sheet is meant as an accessory to a kit that the modeler obtains separately. Behind the brand stands the Turkish manufacturer Tiger Head Models, specialized in aircraft decal sheets.
The Su-2 was a single-engine light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft with a radial engine, created in the design bureau of Pavel Sukhoi in the second half of the thirties. It went into action right from the beginning of the war on the Eastern Front, where it quickly turned out that its performance and defensive armament were no longer enough against contemporary fighters. The type was therefore withdrawn from front-line service fairly soon and today it is among the less usual subjects. That is exactly why it is an interesting addition to a collection of Soviet aircraft of the early period of the war.
Before the decals, even the surface of the model out with a gloss clear coat — on matte paint a silvery veil forms under the carrier film. It is a good idea to work one motif at a time: soak the decal, let it rest for a while on a paper surface and only then transfer it. On large areas, for example the national insignia on the wing, you will appreciate decal softener, which softens the film and lets it sink into the scribed panel lines. Only after it has dried completely do the matte clear coat and any weathering follow.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
