The sheet contains printed decals in 1:48 scale for finishing a model of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter in less usual markings. The package contains no plastic or resin parts; it is purely an accessory to a model that the modeler buys separately. The manufacturer is the Turkish brand Tiger Head Models, whose sheets concentrate precisely on unusual and export schemes.
The Spitfire is among the best known fighters of all and in modeling display cases it usually appears in British or Mediterranean finish. During its long career, though, the type reached the air forces of a whole range of countries across continents, and there it acquired markings that are markedly less worn out to a modeler's eye. It is these users the sheet is aimed at: it lets you build an intimately familiar airframe in colors the public at an exhibition does not usually expect.
The key to a clean result is a smooth surface. After spraying the paint, polish the model and go over it with a gloss clear coat, so that a decal settles without air bubbles. Apply the motifs from the top down and from larger to smaller, so that you have somewhere to put your fingers. Should a bubble appear under the film after all, pierce it with the point of a needle and put a drop of decal softener over the puncture — the film draws in and the mark disappears.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
