Pre-cut masking films in kabuki tape for a model of the Panavia Tornado aircraft in the IDS, ADV and ECR versions in 1:48 scale, in the extended EXPERT form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Panavia Tornado is a two-seat combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing that came about in cooperation between several European states and became the backbone of their tactical air forces. The strike version IDS was intended for attacks on ground targets, the longer ADV served as an interceptor and the ECR specialized in electronic warfare and the suppression of air defenses. The mask set covers all three variants.
Kabuki tape is a thin Japanese paper with an adhesive layer. Against ordinary masking tape it gives way to curves better, so it can be laid even on the rounded frame of a canopy without cutting, and once lifted it leaves no adhesive residue on the surface. The elements are die-cut in the sheet in advance, so you only pop them out and stick them on; you do not have to trace them or cut them out.
Masking is done before spraying. The surface has to be clean, dry and degreased, or the tape will not hold. Press every element down all around its edge, especially carefully in the corners and on the edges of the frames, so that paint does not creep under. Spray in thin layers, because a heavy layer runs under the edge of a mask more easily. Lift the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch; the edge breaks out of a fully cured coat less well. The EXPERT form is the more extensive of the two ranges offered, and the exact list of elements is in the instructions for the set.
What is supplied is the masking films alone. Paints, thinner, glue and other material for the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
