A photo-etched set of engine compartment grilles for models of the German Pz.Kpfw.III tank and the StuG III assault gun in 1:35 scale. It replaces the solid plastic kit part with an open grille.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Pz.Kpfw.III and the StuG III assault gun were built on the same running gear, so their engine compartment is laid out identically as well. On its cover there are grilles through which cooling air flowed to the engine and out again. On the real machine they are open and shadow is visible under them, whereas the plastic part of a kit tends to be solid and the grille is only suggested on it by engraving. It is exactly this difference that shows most on a finished model, because a viewer looks at the rear of the hull from above.
The set is photo-etched: the parts lie on a flat fret and are held on it by thin tabs. The name gives grilles of the engine compartment for the Pz.Kpfw.III and the StuG III in 1:35 scale. Compare the parts with your own model before building and check the exact application in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade against a hard surface, as scissors will buckle the fret. Sand the remainders of the tabs down with fine abrasive paper. Make the bends over the edge of a ruler or in a bending tool, so that they come out sharp. The set is bonded with super glue, as cement for polystyrene has no effect on it. The plastic grille of the kit under it usually has to be cut out or leveled flat, so that the part sits down without a gap. Degrease the surface before painting and lay down a base paint, or the coat will not hold on the smooth surface.
This is an accessory set for a model. The kit, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
