Palm leaves as a scenic accessory for dioramas in 1:35 scale. Intended for tropical and subtropical scenes; the number in the name distinguishes the variant of the set.
Responsibility details are not available.
A palm is a shorthand a viewer reads at once: as soon as they see it in a diorama, they stop looking for where the scene takes place. It finds a use at a battlefield in the Pacific, with vehicles in Southeast Asia, in the Middle East and in North Africa, and just as well with a civilian scene from a harbor or from a plantation. The leaves are not used only on a trunk, though. A broken, wilted palm frond on the ground, leaves stacked as makeshift camouflage on the bed of a truck or a shelter of leaves over a foxhole are among the diorama motifs that stand or fall exactly on a believable shape of leaf.
This is a scenic accessory for dioramas in 1:35 scale, that is in the most common scale of military vehicles and figures. The number in the name distinguishes the individual variants within the series. How many leaves the set contains, what dimensions they have and what material they are made of should be checked in the manufacturer's description and instructions.
A palm leaf is neither flat nor straight. Bend it along the midrib and let the individual segments droop unequally, because regularity gives artificial manufacture away at first glance. Put the tones between the leaves out of tune with one another and leave the undersides lighter; a dry leaf browning on the ground below will do a scene more good than nothing but fresh green. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and according to the manufacturer's instructions. Before you set about gluing, lay the leaves out dry and only then install them, so that the resulting crown does not come out like a fan.
The base of a diorama, the trunk of the palm, terrain materials, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
