A 1:48 masking set for a model of the Bf 109 F-4 from the Zvezda kit, with shapes prepared for the parts of that kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109 F-4 is a later machine of the F series, that is, the version with a slim nose and rounded wing tips. The canopy remains framed, with narrow frames running in several directions, and it is the canopy that decides how a model turns out. The glazing is the most conspicuous part of a finished piece and an imprecisely drawn frame spoils the impression of the whole paint job.
The shapes are prepared for the Bf 109 F-4 kit from the firm Zvezda in 1:48 scale. That does away with cutting tape to your own template, which on a framed canopy takes more time than the spraying itself. The make-up of the sheet and the placing of the individual shapes are given in the instructions enclosed with the set, because the F-2 and F-4 versions differ in details of the airframe and each set is built for its own parts.
Wash and degrease the part before masking; on greasy glazing a mask does not hold and paint seeps under. Lay it onto a dry base before spraying and press the edges down along their whole length. Spray the frames first in the cockpit shade, then in the exterior finish. Apply the paint in thin coats and remove the mask as soon as it is dry to the touch; if a trace of adhesive is left on the glass, wipe it off with a cotton swab moistened in clean water and let the surface dry out.
The masking set is supplied on its own. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
