A set of masks in 1:72 scale for a model of the An-12, intended for kits from Roden.
Responsibility details are not available.
The An-12 is a four-engine transport aircraft with propeller propulsion, a high-mounted wing and a cargo hold accessible from the rear. In 1:72 scale it is a large model with a long cabin and with glazing that runs across the whole nose. Spraying it straight and in the same width is one of the most laborious parts of the whole build. Painting by hand moreover jars doubly here, because the large areas offer enough room to compare one edge with another.
According to the name the masks are intended for An-12 kits from Roden in 1:72 scale. The shape of the parts differs between manufacturers, so the set need not fit a model of another brand; the name points to Roden kits and the set is cut for them. The particular list of parts is supplied by the manufacturer in the instructions. Before buying it pays to compare which version of the An-12 you have under way, because the shape of the glazing differs between versions.
First wash the surface and degrease it, or the mask will not hold and the paint will get under it. It is laid on a dry part before spraying, the edges are pressed down along their whole length and the paint is applied in several thin coats. On a large model it pays to work in sections and let each sprayed area become tacky before you move on to the next. Pull the mask off sideways as soon as the paint is dry to the touch; waiting longer tears the edge.
The package contains masks. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
