A kit of the American fighter P-51 B/C Mustang with the early framed canopy in 1:32 scale, The Hybrid Edition.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the B and C versions the North American P-51 Mustang received the Merlin engine, a V12, and only with it did it become an escort fighter able to fly with the bomber formations all the way to the target and back. Both designations belong to the same machine from two different production plants. The early examples still had a solid fuselage spine and a framed canopy over the pilot, for which the name birdcage took hold; the view from it was substantially worse than from the later teardrop canopy of the D version.
The item is supplied as a set of parts to be assembled and painted in the large 1:32 scale. The Hybrid Edition designation in the name distinguishes the edition within the manufacturer's range; exactly what the box holds and what finishes the instructions offer is stated by the manufacturer in the enclosed material.
In a large scale everything shows, so time spent on the cockpit and the gear bays before the model is closed up pays off. Separate the parts with sprue cutters a little away from the part and sand the remainder off. Fit and mask the glazing before spraying. The gloss natural metal finish that belongs to a Mustang needs a perfectly smooth surface, so sand and polish the seams carefully before you reach for paint.
The model is for modelers who want a large piece for the display case and do not mind that a build in a large scale takes more time. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
