A set of unpainted figures of Andalusian light cavalry in 28 millimeter size, that is, in the usual size for tabletop wargames. The package contains twelve pieces. Cavalry sets tend to hold fewer figures than infantry ones, because each figure consists of a rider and a horse and takes up substantially more room on the table. The figures are in hard polystyrene plastic on sprues and are glued with ordinary modeling cement.
The light cavalry of medieval Muslim Andalusia fought differently from heavy European horsemen. The riders sat in shorter stirrups, threw javelins and relied on quick raids and withdrawals rather than on a frontal clash. The Christian kingdoms of the Iberian Peninsula gradually took this way of fighting over, because it proved itself in the terrain there. Their clashes with the armies of the time of El Cid are among the most interesting chapters of medieval warfare.
Wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water to get rid of any residue from the mold. Separate them from the sprue with nippers at a distance and trim the rest with a knife. Paint the rider separately and seat him on the horse only at the end, or you will not be able to reach his legs and the saddle. Apply a primer and work from the dark tones to the light ones.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
