Responsibility details are not available.
A set of unpainted figures of Saxon warriors of the early Middle Ages. The package contains twenty-four pieces. The figures belong to a range whose other sets come out in 1:72 scale, so they make up one collection with them. The material is soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation. That is not a flaw but a property of the material, and it is enough to allow for it beforehand.
The Saxons were among the Germanic peoples who took part in settling Britain after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. They fought on foot, in a close shield wall, with spears, axes and large round shields. Armor was rare and only the leading warriors of a chieftain's retinue wore it; the rest relied on the shield. It is the close shield wall in particular that makes a rewarding diorama subject, because it turns individual figures into a clear whole.
First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics, or the paint will crack and flake off once dry. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), not with polystyrene cement. It pays to paint the shields separately and glue them on at the end, each with a different pattern.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
