Responsibility details are not available.
A set of unpainted plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the brand HäT. The box contains fifty-six figures in eight poses and depicts the carabiniers of the French light infantry of the period around 1808 to 1812. The figures are injection molded from a softer plastic, as is usual with historical sets in this scale, and they are supplied unpainted.
Besides its ordinary companies, the light infantry of the Napoleonic army had what were called elite companies, and the carabiniers were one of them. They corresponded to the grenadiers of the line infantry, that is to picked soldiers who went at the head of an attack and stood on the flank of the formation. Their distinguishing marks were a tall headdress with a plume and facing colors on the epaulettes. Light infantry differed from the line mainly in the way it was used, since it could fight in open order as skirmishers and in close formation alike.
Soft plastic bonds poorly with ordinary cement for polystyrene, and cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or two-part epoxy holds more reliably. Wash the figures in soapy water before painting and let them dry, otherwise the paint runs off. A base coat in the form of a primer for plastic is essential, because without it the layer peels off when a figure is bent. The uniforms stand out if you leave the darker shade in the folds and lighten the edges with a dry brush.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
