A set of unpainted command figures from the American Civil War in 1:72 scale. It adds to the line infantry the officers, standard bearers and drummers, that is, the figures missing from ordinary sets and without which a unit looks like an anonymous crowd on the table. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation.
A Civil War battalion was directed in action by commands, by the drum and above all by the standard. Smoke from black powder covered the field within a few volleys, so the position of the standard was often the only guide to where the unit stood. Carrying the standard meant being a target and losses among standard bearers were high, which is why a line of replacements was designated in advance in every battalion.
First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Give the command figures more work than the rank and file: they are at the front and it is worth grading the shadows and highlights on them and finishing the small things such as sashes and rank insignia.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
