1:32 Napoleonic- French Light Infantry Command (18 figures)

HäT 1:32 - French light infantry command

A set of eighteen unpainted command figures of the French light infantry of the Napoleonic age in 1:32 scale. It adds to the line companies the officers, standard bearers and musicians, that is, the figures missing from ordinary sets. The large scale gives a figure room for painting work. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation.

The real subject

The command of a light battalion had a different job from that of the line infantry. The battalion fought in a loose formation, where a spoken order was lost, so it was directed by signals on the bugle and the horn. Officers therefore had to be closer to the men and their equipment was adapted to movement. The uniform stayed blue throughout; rank was told by the epaulettes, the sash and the saber.

Building and painting tips

First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Give the command figures more work than the rank and file: grade the shadows, add the epaulettes and the gold lace, and let the figures stand out.
