1:32 7 Years War Austrian Musketeers

HäT 1:32 - Austrian musketeers of the Seven Years' War

A set of unpainted figures of Austrian line infantry of the Seven Years' War in 1:32 scale. The large scale gives a figure room for painting work that cannot be managed in small scales: graded shadows, drawn-in eyes and the small details of equipment. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation.

The real subject

The Seven Years' War was the conflict in which Austria tried to win back Silesia, lost to Prussia. Austrian infantry wore white coats and a tricorne on the head, which is the main difference from the later Napoleonic period with its shako. The fighting was conducted in close lines, where what counted was the speed of loading and the ability to take an enemy volley without the formation falling apart.

Building and painting tips

First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Do not build the white coat out of pure white: start with a light gray and use white only on the highest points. Pick out the trim of the tricorne with a fine brush.
