A sanding plate with a curved working face onto which abrasive paper is stuck. The curvature solves a task a flat plate is useless for: on a concave surface, on the transition between fuselage and wing or on the inside of a cover, a flat backing rests only on its edges and does not reach the middle at all. A curved profile, by contrast, beds down across the whole face and removes material evenly.

The workmanship

The body is of aluminum alloy, which does not flex under pressure, so the curvature keeps its shape throughout the life of the tool. The red version distinguishes this variant from the other profiles in the range, so that you do not get confused during work.

How to work with it

• Stick the paper onto a clean surface; it will not hold on dust and shifts on the first stroke.
• Guide the abrasive along the curvature, not across it, otherwise the profile will print itself into the part.
• Work in strokes of the same length, as uneven strokes create a wave.
• Paper clogs unevenly on a curved face, so check it more often.

Who it is for

The plate is for modelers who sand concave and rounded faces: the transitions between wing and fuselage, the insides of covers, troughs, tanks and rounded superstructures. For flat faces the variant with a flat profile is suitable. Abrasive papers are not included in the package.

The profiles in the range complement one another, so anyone who sands intricate parts will usually reach for all three in turn. Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
