A bust of an Italian tanker of the Second World War in 1:10 scale, cast in polyurethane resin for collectors and figure painters.
Responsibility details are not available.
A bust of a member of the Italian armored troops of the years 1940 to 1943, enlarged to the collector's scale of 1:10. The casting is in polyurethane resin, which the Italian brand Royal Model has long used for its busts. The large format makes it possible to work out the expression, the folds of the cloth and small items of equipment to a degree that a small scale will never carry.
Italian tankers served with battalions armed with L3 light tanks, with the M13/40 and M14/41 medium machines and later with Semovente self-propelled guns. They fought in North Africa, in the Balkans and on the Eastern Front, and their appearance differed strikingly from both the German and the British soldier: a quilted leather jacket, a padded protective helmet and chest pockets were among the typical marks. It is exactly that distance from the usual subjects that makes the Italian subject a rewarding target.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent, so that traces of release agent disappear, and line up the mating surfaces. Cyanoacrylate glue holds the joints, and two-part putty levels any unevenness. Then comes a thin filler and after that the painting itself, whether in oils or in acrylics applied in layers. In a large scale the difference between light and shadow has to be built up gradually.
It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and paints and glue are not enclosed.
