This injection-molded plastic kit from Aoshima in 1:12 scale captures the compact Honda Ape AC16 motorcycle as it was in 2006. The model renders the bodywork, the frame and the engine faithfully. Vinyl tubing stands in for the wires and hoses, and a decal sheet for this particular version is included.
The Honda Ape is a small four-stroke motorcycle intended mainly for the Japanese market, popular for its slim build and its following among customizers. Its combination of low weight and simple mechanics made it a rewarding basis for individual conversions.
The frame and the engine deserve careful painting and fine shading to bring out the castings. Chromed and glossy surfaces come out best once smoothed and lacquered. Vinyl tubing picks out the wiring, and the decals go onto a dampened surface prepared with varnish. This is a small model, so careful work with small parts pays off.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
