An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS early warning and control aircraft in 1:144 scale from Roden. It is a new tool that captures this striking machine with its large rotating radome carried above the rear of the fuselage. The big fuselage comes from the airframe of the Boeing 707 airliner and carries a long row of windows, joined by four engine nacelles under the wings.
The Boeing E-3 Sentry is an American airborne early warning and control aircraft (AWACS), built on the airframe of the Boeing 707 airliner. Its recognition feature is the rotating dish radome (rotodome) on two pylons above the fuselage, which houses the surveillance radar antenna. The Sentry serves to detect air targets at long range and to control friendly aircraft; it has been operated by the US Air Force and by other allied countries since the late 1970s.
Glue the large fuselage carefully and fill and sand the joints smooth, because on a smooth airframe every seam shows. Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid cement for plastic. Give particular attention to the seating of the pylons and the rotating radome, so that it sits symmetrically and parallel with the fuselage. Lay down a primer before painting; spray the uniform gray finish with an airbrush in thin coats and bring it to life with a light panel wash. Handle the long row of windows and the low-key lines with decals and a decal softener.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
