Injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese medium transport aircraft Y-8 in the small 1:144 scale from Hobby Boss. The model of this large four-engined machine is decently detailed even in this scale and suits a collection of civil and military transports.
The Shaanxi Y-8 is a Chinese medium transport aircraft derived from the Soviet Antonov An-12, of which it is in effect a license-built and further developed copy. It was powered by four turboprop engines and the machine serves to carry troops, vehicles and materiel; a number of special versions were built on its basis. Series production started in the 1980s and the type remains in service in various forms to this day. The Y-8 became a universal platform on which China built a whole family of special and reconnaissance aircraft.
In the small 1:144 scale, clean up the parting seams carefully and join the fuselage halves and the engine nacelles. Cover the cockpit glazing with a mask or paint it precisely with a brush, apply a primer and spray thin coats with an airbrush. The large areas of the wings and fuselage come to life with gentle panel shading and light washes. Paint and fit the propellers last, so that they do not get broken during handling.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
