An injection-molded plastic kit of the iconic airliner in 1:144 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The model captures the characteristic slender line of the fuselage, the triple tail and the four radial engines. The package contains clear parts for the cockpit and windows, the landing gear and a decal sheet for several operators of the period (Lufthansa and TWA among them). Optional nose variants are available, including the lengthened radar nose of the TWA machines.
The Lockheed Super Constellation was among the high points of the era of piston airliners. It followed on in development from the Constellation type, gained a lengthened fuselage and more powerful radial engines, which allowed it to be used on long-haul and transatlantic routes. The L-1049G version, nicknamed the Super G, carried wingtip fuel tanks for greater range and became a symbol of air transport in the 1950s. Its elegant triple vertical tail makes it one of the most easily recognized airliners in history to this day.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and sand the fuselage joints carefully, so that the smooth polished surface of the machines of the period shows to advantage. A natural metal finish is best created with an airbrush and metallic shades over a smooth gloss base; the transitions between panels can be shaded subtly. Apply the decals onto a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte or semi-gloss coat, depending on the subject.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
