A plastic kit of the steam-powered experimental submarine Nordenfelt II in 1:144 scale from Mikromir. The model brings to life one of the first attempts at a combat submarine.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nordenfelt submarines were built in the 1880s to a design by Thorsten Nordenfelt and George Garrett. On the surface they were driven by a steam engine that built up steam pressure before diving for a short run underwater. They were therefore among the very first attempts at a usable combat submarine.
This plastic kit captures the unusual hull of the vessel in the collector's scale of 1:144. The box contains plastic parts, decals and assembly instructions; paints and glue are not included. The set will appeal to collectors of historic ships and submarines.
