Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Po-2 general-purpose biplane (also known as the U-2) in 1:144 scale from Zvezda. It is a snap-fit model whose parts fit together and can be assembled even without glue. The box contains the parts of the aircraft, decals and a display stand. Thanks to the small scale it is an undemanding, quick build that suits collections and the gaming table.
The Po-2 was a Soviet light biplane and one of the most widely built and longest-produced aircraft in history. It was originally created as a trainer and general-purpose machine and made its name in the Second World War in the role of a night harassment bomber. The slow, quiet and agile machines were flown by women crews as well, whom German soldiers nicknamed the Night Witches. It also flew liaison, reconnaissance and casualty evacuation missions.
Although the kit is snap-fit, we recommend putting a drop of cement for plastic into the joints for strength. Clean the parts up carefully and lay down a primer before painting. The interplane struts of the biplane call for patience in fitting, and fine bracing wires will complete the convincing look. Apply the finish with an airbrush, the small details with a brush, and put the decals on a smooth gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
