Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set from the Czech manufacturer Firma49 in 1:16 scale. It contains faithful castings of the British Mk III steel helmet, nicknamed the Turtle after its characteristic shape. It is not a kit but an accessory in its own right meant for dressing figures, busts or dioramas. Working with resin assumes some basic experience.
The Mk III helmet was introduced with the British Army from the end of 1943. Its deeper shape, extended to the rear, gave better protection to the neck and the back of the head than the earlier dish-shaped Mk II. It was first worn in larger numbers by British and Canadian soldiers during the Normandy landings in 1944 and it stayed in use until the end of the war and beyond. It gained the nickname Turtle for its resemblance to a turtle shell.
Wash the castings free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean them up (with respiratory protection). Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Once the primer is sprayed on, flat shades of khaki to olive green work well; for a realistic look you can add netting, a cloth cover or camouflage elements and bring out the shape with a fine wash.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
